2014 Ambassador Message

When I first took on the role of Navan Fair Ambassador I was worried about the public speaking, getting in front of crowds, being the center of a lot of attention. I thought it would be hard, I was unsure if i’d be able to do the job well and live up to what was expected. Sitting writing this though after my year I can honestly say the hardest and most difficult part of the entire thing is accepting that it is coming to an end and I will have to give the crown and sash up to a new Ambassador. Pin pointing the best moments is next to impossible as there were so many times where I thought “Wow it can’t get better than this” only to be surprised with something even better causing me to repeat that statement. It was busy, every night I was exhausted and I think I wore out my cowboy boots but it was so much fun and I would do it all again in a second. I rode in a beautiful car in the parade, met so many new and amazing people, rode on the winning wagon of the six-horse hitch, handed out the trophies in the demolition derby and even got kissed by an alpaca. The OAAS Convention in Toronto is a whole other story on it’s own, and was one of the best weekends I’ve ever had. I can’t thank the community, the volunteers, the Directors or the Cumberland Township Agricultural Society enough for allowing me to be the 2014 Navan Fair Ambassador and for all the work that was put in to making it as great as it was. Although I can totally wait, I really am excited to crown a new Ambassador and pass on the title. It has been a life changing experience and I am forever grateful to all those that made it happen.

God Bless, and we’ll see you at this year’s fair!

Sincerely, Taylor McNeely

My name is Emily Keenan and I am extremely honoured to be the 2015 Navan Fair Ambassador. I currently work part time at JT Bradley’s Country Convenience and am completing my degree in Psychology at the University of Ottawa. Not only is this year the 70th anniversary of the fair, but also the 20th anniversary of the record breaking 50 horse hitch that took place right here in Navan! I am very excited to help celebrate this years fair and can’t wait to find out what this incredible new experience has in store for me. Hope to see you all at the fair!
